The Student Book Card is a great way to pay for student books.

From National Book Tokens, this effective, simple two part gift card allows parents to add value on one card and students to buy textbooks with the other.

So how does it work?

The Student Book Card comes as two connected gift cards which can be separated.

  1. You keep the Top Up Card and then when required you can add money to the card at your local bookshop.
  2. The monetary valus is then added to the Book Card for the students to use to purchase textbooks at their local bookshop at any time.

Unfortunately, the Student Book Cards cannot currently be topped up or redeemed online, or on the Amazon/Play.com websites.

  • What can I spend my Student Book Card on?

Student Book Cards can be exchanged for all kind of books, from fiction, to reference and textbooks, as well as maps.

They can only be used on new books.

They can only be used to buy books and maps.

Because the Book Card and the Top Up Card have the same card number, the Top Up Card can also be used to buy books and maps.

  • Can I top up the Book Card?

Yes, because the Book Card and the Top Up Card have the same card number, value can be added on the Book Card too.

  • Where can the Student Book Card be topped up?

  • What happens if I lose my Student Book Card?

The Student Book Cards should be treated like cash so we cannot guarantee value on lost or stolen cards. You can register your card to help protect the value on it, click here for more information.

  • Does the Student Book Card have an expiry date?

If the Student Book Card is not used for a period of 24 consecutive months, the gift card will expire and any remaining value will be deducted.

To ensure that a Gift Card remains active you either need to use it to purchase a book, have it topped up or do a balance enquiry. The next 24 consecutive month period will begin once the gift card has been used or its balanced checked.

  • How do I find out how much value is on the gift cards?

The Student Book Card’s value can be checked at any time by using the online Balance Enquiry function, by asking in store at your nearest bookshop or by phoning 0845 602 7423.

  • Can change be given for a Student Book Card?

If the value of your purchase is less than the value on the card, the balance remains on the card for future purchases. They cannot be exchanged for cash in bookshops and change will not be given.

  • What happens if my Student Book Card is declined?

Your gift card may have expired, or the available balance on the gift card could be less than the purchase amount and you could use another form of payment to pay the difference

Register your Student Book Card

To help protect the value on your Student Book Card, you can register it online.

Simply click on the link and fill in the short form. You will need your card number and your PIN (both found on the back of your card).

If one or both cards get misplaced, contact National Book Tokens Customer Services to block them so they can no longer be used.

Please note that any value used on the lost or stolen card before it can be blocked, cannot be refunded.
