What are book tokens?
 
Book Tokens can be used in exchange for all kinds of books from top selling auto biographies to the latest children’s books or thrilling crime drama, the list is endless.  These make a great gift for everyone regardless of age or personal interest.
 
The Book Token Gift Cards can be used across all major retailers throughout the Uk and Ireland (See full list here), they can also be used online if the book shops website is set up with the specific online capability (this facility is only available at http://www.hive.co.uk/). 
 
What gift design card can I choose?
 
The Gift Card supplied is free of charge and there is a selection of gift card designs to choose to suit all ages and tastes for that special occasion such as Birthdays, Christmas the choice is up to you.  It is supplied on a backing card of the same design which is folder and supplied in a plain white envelope.
 
When do the Book Token Gift Cards expire?
 
The Book Token Gift Card expires if it is not used with in a period of 24 consecutive months, at this point any remaining value will be removed.
 
To ensure that a Gift Card remains active you either need to use it to purchase a book, have it topped up or do a balance enquiry. The next 24 consecutive month period will begin once the gift card has been used or its balanced checked.

What if the book value does not match the book token value?
 
If the value of the purchase is less than the value on the card then the remaining balance will stay on the card and this can be used for a future purchase.
 
If the value of the purchase is more than the value of the card then you will need to pay the difference with an alternative means.

Is there a maximum amount that can be loaded on to a book token gift card?
 
Yes, the maximum value that can be loaded is £250, the minimum is £1.
 
You are able to top up the cards, to the maximum amount of £250, this can be completed at your nearest bookshop where you can add more value to it.
 
There is also no limit to the number of book token gift cards that can be used in any one purchase until the balance on the gift cards is used.
